The Gift Of Friendship
December 4, 2007
A little bit ago, Stefani held a little giveaway on her blog, and I won. I found a package on my doorstep the other day, and I can’t even begin to describe how wonderful it’s contents are. It was like Christmas came early for me. When I opened it, I started discovering things and I made some sort of happy noise and The Husband wondered from the other room what was going on, so I put everything that I had taken out back into the box so he could come experience it with me.

The box was filled with more generosity than I could have imagined, and I am still in awe. She sent 2 of my favorite of her photographs, and a number of prints of her awesome new paper cuts. There is some yummy spicy handmade soap, which made the whole box smell earthy and cinnamonny and green, as well as a really beautiful acorn ornament. I had been contemplating buying myself a similar one not too long ago, so it was like she was listening to my heart on that one. There was a box full of pecans in the shell, presumably from a tree in her neighborhood, which I just think is so cool. There was a couple of boxes of Japanese ready-meals, which The Husband and I had fun trying to decipher the instructions for making, some pecan candies, and jars of spicy peach preserves and homemade tomato sauce, wrapped in swaths of beautiful fabric.
I think it is one of the most thoughtful packages I have received, in the consideration of comments that I have made to her in the past, and sharing her life and part of the world with me. Thank you, my friend, thank you. I feel so blessed to know you. I hope you have the best time in Japan!
