Addy Time

January 25, 2007

Well, I dropped off 4 entries for the Addy awards last night. I entered the annual report, the public service campaign, the DVD cover series, and the Eskimo poster, in the student field. This is my first year entering any work, and I was nervous about making sure my entries were compiled correctly. I spent hours constructing the annual report so that the vellum page would work correctly, since the entries were not supposed to be mounted, and filling out and printing the entry forms and attaching them to the backs of each entry. 3 of the 4 entries had multiple pieces too, so that made for 3 times the printing and cutting and constructing. When I dropped them off, it didn’t seem like anyone there knew anything about it though, so that makes me even more nervous. The first guy that I talked to said, “Addy’s, isn’t that all done now?” The professional call to entry date was 1/1/07, but the student entries are due this Thursday. Then I waited for someone else to come help me, and when she did, it turns out that they didn’t have any plastic envelopes left. So we put them in paper envelopes, and I clipped them all together and she put them on the receptionist’s chair, so I hope they get to the right place. If I win a gold or silver at the local level, then I can enter into the regional level, and I would have an award to put on my resume, which would probably be a good thing.

I started the spring semester last week. I am taking one class, graphic design 1, which deals alot with logo development, which is good, since I don’t feel like I know a lot about it. I hope I learn some good things. I have to do 50 thumbnails this weekend…

I am frantically trying to get our wedding invites ready for print and to start quoting printers…which makes me nervous and excited at the same time. I would post images of them in progress, but they should probably be a surprise to those who will receive them, so I will wait. I will say that I have gotten a little feedback and they rock pretty hard.

Even though I am only taking one class this semester, I feel like I am already crazy busy. it is going to be a hectic 4 months to come!
